Junior Art Classes
“When my daughter was about seven years old, she asked me one day what I did at work. I told her I worked at the college- that my job was to teach people how to draw. She stared back at me, incredulous, and said, “You mean they forget?”
~ Howard Ikemoto
PLEASE NOTE: Junior art courses are currently suspended.
The courses run consistently throughout the year and students are required to pay for a minimum of 4 weeks in advance. Each weekly class is for 2 hours and costs 10 euros. Paid classes are non-refundable, however if 24 hour prior notice of non-attendance is given, then a missed class can be substituted with another class within the 4 paid weeks, if available. Students who wish to continue may do so with an advance payment for each consecutive 4 weeks.
The junior courses focus on learning how to see things and draw them as well as working with colour manipulation using gouache paints, colour pencils, wax crayons and charcoals. Environmental awareness will be emphasised by various mixed media projects using recycled products. Basically creativity is the key word and the tutor places greater emphasis on giving junior artists the freedom to explore their imagination and less on telling them what or how to do things.
